About Dr. Lintala

As an autism mother, author, speaker and clinician, I’ve been immersed in the autism world both personally and professionally for over 30 years. I have a B.S. in Genetics from The Ohio State University and earned my Doctor of Chiropractic degree from NUHS as salutatorian, summa cum laude, one month before the birth of the first of my three sons.

I do extensive pro bono work at Autism Health, a center I founded serving patients from 20 states supporting vibrant health on the autism spectrum. As an autism parent, I understand the complete confusion this diagnosis brings. As a doctor, I see the holes, contradictions and even nonsense in the treatment approaches families are offered. Helping autism families and healthcare providers cut through the confusion and apply effective treatments and therapies has become my passion.

I’m the author of an award-winning book, The Un-Prescription for Autism, which focuses on support of autism’s invisible medical problems that can so dramatically affect sleep, bowels, mood, language, and learning.

I’ve been appointed three times by the Governor of West Virginia to serve on our State Rehabilitation Council, I’ve staffed the disAbility Awareness Challenge for the 2013 Scouts BSA National Jamboree and was a member of the Advisory Panel to the Boy Scouts of America National Disabilities Awareness Council from February 2014 – 2017.

I’m the founder and President of The Un-Prescription Foundation for Autism, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization with an educational mission, and I’m also on the NCMIC Speakers Bureau, presenting to healthcare providers from coast to coast on the specific health challenges of the autism spectrum and how to support them in the office.
