Taking Your Time is How You Win

Slow Is Not Stuck

In a world that celebrates speed, small steps can feel like falling behind. But real growth happens quietly, through repetition and the transformative power of consistency.

Rushing often feels productive, but it can become the enemy of our goals. If you’ve ever heard me speak at a conference, a workshop, or a personal appointment you’ve heard me say, “I want to position you for success so let’s do this in baby steps” and “rushing will blow up your ship and sink any progress you were making.” When we hurry, we skip the chance for settling into each step and letting it feel natural before adding the next one. We overwhelm systems that need time to adapt. We turn learning into pressure — and pressure into burnout. Slowing down isn’t giving up; it’s choosing sustainability.

Consistency transforms effort into skill, anxiety into familiarity, and fear into trust. Time and repetition are your friend and help new activities feel comfortable and natural.

Patience allows growth to take root. It gives your nervous system time to learn that you are safe. It lets confidence build from experience, not expectation. And over time, what once felt impossible becomes manageable — then familiar — then yours.

Here are some inspiring quotes to nourish your confidence as you prepare to drive: (The first one is my favorite!)

  • “The only reason for time is so that everything doesn’t happen at once.” — Albert Einstein
  • “When you have a great and difficult task, something perhaps almost impossible, if you only work a little at a time, every day a little, suddenly the work will finish itself.” – Isak Dinesen
  • “Time brings all things to pass.” — Oliver Wendell Holmes
  • “Repetition of the same thought or physical action develops into a habit which, repeated frequently enough, becomes an automatic reflex.” – Norman Vincent Peale
  • Energy and persistence conquer all things.” – Benjamin Franklin
  • “Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.” – Robert Collier
  • “The two most powerful warriors are patience and time.” — Leo Tolstoy (attributed)
  • “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” – Lao Tzu
